Crowdfunding – slow tourism in Mongolia
Living with locals in yurts in a Mongolian village – slow tourism in the middle of the overwhelming nature of Mongolia – experience Mongolian wild-life like eagles, riding horses, traditional cooking, trekking together.
During one year travelling the world, we visited Mongolia. We lived together with a Mongolian family in a remote village in the Western part of the country for a while. The father of the family, who isn’t a pastoralist but a studied economist knows English which is quite rare in Mongolia. He used to manage a horse ranch. Unfortunately, the project funds will expire in 2016. He needs to create another source of income to secure his family’s existence. There are ten of them living together in his family. Our hearts open up if we’re thinking about them. They are inspiring in terms of their positive approach to life and their will to live. We have been impressed by their vibrant energy to change their lives and give it meaning. There is no social security and no financial support at all. The life in Mongolia is tough and meager. The summer is short, the winter very long. That’s why we want to support this family to implement their business idea.
They want to create an adventure place for individual travelers. You will live in yurts next to a beautiful mountain lake getting to know the rough Mongolian life in an open landscape. You will learn how to extract vodka from horse milk, how to prepare traditional nomadic food. You will experience the Altai Mountains on the back of one of the last living wild horses, called Przewalski, and also observe their pet eagles hunting. Mongolia is a vast and beautiful landscape. You will vividly experience and live with the family, who is guiding all the activities on their own. This experience will change your life. All activities take place during spring and summer, as well as swimming lessons for kids, ice-skating and ice-hockey for all ages in the winter at a nearby lake.
It is not just a social project for the family but for the whole community. Everybody will be involved working as guides or assistants. This project will create new opportunities for the remote village and its community who live in this challenging environment. The project is 100% based on the family’s idea. They want to make it happen with dedication and toil. As a matter of fact their future life is dependent on the success of this project.
Buying four yurts and creating the tourist infrastructure, as well as all the equipment like beds, cookery, sanitary facilities, electricity and water supply, need an initial investment of 15000 USD. Mit Einheimischen in einem mongolischen Dorf zusammen in Jurten leben – sanfter Tourismus in der grandiosen Landschaft der Mongolei – Adler, Pferde,Kochen,Wandern.
Eine Jahresreise führte uns unter anderem in die Mongolei. Dort lebten wir eine ganze Weile in einem abgelegenen Dorf im Westen des Landes mit einer mongolischen Familie zusammen. Der Familienvater ist kein Viehhirte, sondern studierte Wirtschaft und die englische Sprache. Jahrelang war er der Manager auf einer Pferdezuchtfarm, die allerdings ihr Geschäft auf Grund des Projektauslaufes auflöst. Eine neue Idee musste her, um die existentielle Zukunft für die zehnköpfige Familie zu sichern. Die Familie beeindruckte uns durch ihren Lebenswillen, ihre positive Lebenseinstellung, ihre spürbare Energie, etwa tun zu wollen. Es gibt keine Sozialversicherung und keinerlei finanziellen Rückhalt in der Mongolei. Das Leben dort ist karg und hart.In uns kam der feste Wunsch auf, der Familie in ihrer neuen Geschäftsidee finanziell zu helfen. Es geht um den Aufbau eines Erlebnisortes für Touristen. In Jurten an einem wunderschönen Bergsee werden sie wohnen, das mongolische Leben live in der freien Landschaft kennen lernen. Sie werden dabei sein, wie traditionell aus Stutenmilch Vodka destilliert wird, und historische Nomadengerichte selbstständig zubereiten. Die seltenen Przewalski Pferde werden die Besucher bei Ausritte in den entlausen Weiten erleben. Adler beim traditionellen Jagen können beobachtet werden, die Berge des wunderschönen Altai Gebirges in der Umgebung durchwandet, oder durchritten werden. Das Leben mit der Familie, die alle diese Aktivitäten selbst anleitet und durchführt, wird hautnah gespürt. Dieses Erleben wird seinen nachhaltigen Eindruck im weiteren Leben der Gäste hinterlassen. Diese Aktivitäten finden in den Sommermonaten statt, genau so wie Schwimmunterricht für die Kinder der Umgebung und Schlittschuhlaufen und Hockey auf dem See für jung und alt im Winter. Somit ist es gleichzeitig ein sozial engagiertes Projekt, welches neue Beschäftigungsfelder über die Familie hinaus für das gesamte Dorf schafft. Denn die Bevölkerung wird einbezogen als Guides und Helfer. Damit besteht die Chance, dem abgelegenen Dorf neue Perspektiven zu eröffnen, statt de Trostlosigkeit ausgeliefert zu sein. Um die ersten vier Jurten zu kaufen, sämtliches Equipment zur Bewirtschaftung der Jurten, wie Betten Geschirr, Kochgelegenheiten, sanitäre Anlagen, Elektrizität und Wasser zu installieren, wird ein Initialbetrag von 15000 US Dollar benötigt.
